Seville has become the epicenter of 5G innovation and technology this week with the celebration of the 5G Forum 25, “Where 5G Leaders Meet”, one of the world’s leading forums in the sector. Held at the Nissan Cartuja Auditorium, the event brings together major multinational companies and top industry professionals to discuss the latest developments in fifth-generation mobile technology and other innovations driving digital transformation.
Our colleagues Francisco Hueso and Ángel Franco are attending the eighth edition of the summit, where they will explore the latest developments in 5G connectivity, its various applications (drones, mixed reality glasses, robots…), advancements in bridging the digital divide—especially in rural areas—as well as the latest in Artificial Intelligence and cybersecurity applications, and the horizon of possibilities opened by the next generation of mobile technology: 6G.
Meinrad Spenger, CEO of MasOrange, was the keynote speaker at the opening session, where he shared his vision on the impact of 5G on digital transformation and the technologies driven by his company. He also announced, for the first time, the launch from the Cartuja Auditorium of Spain’s first 5G Advanced network—the precursor to 6G—with a peak speed of 10 Gbps, multiplying the current 5G speed by five, minimizing latency, reducing energy consumption on mobile devices, and improving overall device performance.
The Cartuja Auditorium is hosting the first three in-person sessions, which will run through tomorrow, Wednesday the 14th, while the two final sessions will be held online on Thursday the 15th and Friday the 16th.
Telecom operators, global tech companies, institutions, local, regional, and national administrations, organizations, universities, and leading companies in the telecommunications sector—adding up to a total of 70 national and international entities—make up a top-tier agenda. The event also features an exhibition area, where several operators will showcase their latest innovations and smart solutions that are gradually becoming part of our daily lives.
