The GABITEL CHAIR ON HYDROGEN has published its Annual Activity Report for the year 2023, during which all the activities planned and proposed at the Chair Council were successfully carried out, thereby promoting its consolidation and externalization in its commitment to advancing the use of this green technology and its applications to transform the current energy reality.
Over the past year, the Chair organized and participated in numerous significant R&D&i, training, and knowledge-transfer events—its foundational pillars since its establishment in 2021—which have strengthened its commitment to researching and disseminating the potential of Green Hydrogen within the joint effort and responsibility of Gabitel and the University of Huelva to help transform today’s energy landscape.
From the primary teaching axis, in 2023 the Chair maintained support for three university activities (MOTOETSI, SURBANRACE, and SCIENCITY), delivered a seminar on H2 Project Processing, and offered the 1st Summer Course on Hydrogen Technology at the University of Huelva.
Regarding the research and transfer axes, the Chair spoke at the Professional Meeting on Hydrogen (PMH2), and hosted the 4th Sectorial Conference ‘Hydrogen Technology. Power to Gas. Industry and Guarantees of Origin’, as well as organized the 5th Sectorial Conference focused on ‘Industrial Consumption of H2: Decarbonization Opportunities’, which practically addressed the various industrial applications of green hydrogen and its derivatives as synthetic fuels replacing fossil fuels.
Additionally, in 2023 the Chair’s outreach efforts since its launch in 2021 were externalized through activities such as organizing the 1st Inter-Chair Symposium, being selected by the German delegation of the state of Baden-Württemberg for the 1st Spanish-German Hydrogen Technology Meeting, and receiving a monographic interview invitation from the Revista Técnica Industrial, among other milestones.
Furthermore, the Chair participated as a committee member in the 1st National Green Hydrogen Congress (7–9 February) in Huelva, a national and international platform where experts, professionals, and industry leaders shared ideas, projects, and visions to drive the development of Green Hydrogen.
The Gabitel Chair on Hydrogen was established through an agreement between the University of Huelva (UHU) and Gabitel in 2021 with the aim of centralizing and reinforcing collaborative ties and projects between both institutions, which are clearly committed to contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals in our region.
