The Gabitel Chair on Hydrogen, created in 2021 in collaboration with the University of Huelva to promote the use of this green technology and its applications, has been selected as a nominee for the Onubenses of the Year Awards, a contest organized by Huelva Información with the sponsorship of Caixabank, in the Education category.
The other candidates in the Education category are the manager of María Inmaculada school in Huelva, Eva Martín Rodríguez; the educational center Ciudad de los Niños, in Huelva, for its work with families facing difficulties; the Rural Public School Adersa IV, which serves students from Cañaveral de León and Hinojales, recently awarded for a sustainability project; and the writer specialized in Philosophy outreach, Eduardo Infante.
The official jury of the awards, which Gabitel already won in the 2023 edition in the Economy category, has taken into account the selection of the 30 candidates divided into six categories (Popular Traditions, Economy and Business, Education, Sports, Art and Culture, Solidarity and Human Values) from proposals received via email and postal mail, as well as direct contributions from the newspaper’s readers.
Those interested in participating with their votes can do so, therefore, online, through the web channel, and also via the coupons published on the back cover of the paper edition of Huelva Información. The latter will have a value equivalent to ten votes cast through the web. Votes through the digital channel will be limited to one per day, although on each occasion it will be possible to choose among the six categories.
The jury of the XXXVII Onubenses of the Year Awards is made up of the Communications and ESG Director of Atlantic Copper, Marta Cerati; the General Director of the Port of Huelva, Alfonso Peña; the Chief of Staff of the Provincial Council, Rafael Pérez Unquiles; the Press Chief of Huelva City Council, Antonio Carrasco; the influencer Gracia Romero; the director of the CaixaBank Business Center in Huelva, Luis Manuel Robledo; the director of Huelva Información, Javier Ronchel, as president; and the newspaper’s manager, Nieves Misteli, as secretary.
The Gabitel Chair, whose collaboration agreement was recently renewed, was established with the commitment to promote the use of this green technology and its applications to transform the current energy reality through the organization and participation in numerous significant R&D&I events, training and knowledge transfer, including national and international meetings of experts in this field, as well as university activities (MOTOETSI, SURBANRACE, and SCIENCITY), the delivery of seminars and summer courses.
The voting period is now open and will remain active until 12:00 noon on July 22.
